 Benchmark results (SPEC CPU2000):

 Remarks about SPEC CPU2000:

The SPEC CPU2000 benchmark suite has been retired and new results are no longer being accepted for review and publication by SPEC. It has been replaced by its successor CPU2006. The CPU2000 benchmarks are, however, still widely used within the HEP community, e.g., in the MoU's and in the current Glue scheme. Therefore results from CPU2000 benchmark runs are still published at this web site.

A benchmarking working group, launched at HEPiX Fall 2006 and run by Helge Meinhard (CERN), is currently working on a strategy how to move away from CPU2000 to a more recent benchmark.

SPEC CPU2000 (integer benchmarks only).

Operating system:

Scientific Linux (3 or 4), i386 or x86_64.

Compiler:

GCC 3.4.x.

Optimizing compiler flags (base results):

The benchmarks will be run using 2 different sets of optimization flags:

Simulation of batch mode:

In order to simulate the behaviour of a batch system, 1 benchmark run per CPU core is started at the same time (download script for benchmarking). The total “box performance” is taken as the sum of individual results.

Power measurements:

Using a cheap volt meter from the next do-it-yourself store. One cpuburn-1.4 per CPU core running in parallel.
